Thought of the Day

Rhianna

I want to take a second and talk about something that is a little touchy in this country. The issue is abuse. Now I do not believe that anyone in the world deserves to get hit or abused by anyone, especially someone they love. What Chris Brown did to Rhianna is inexcusable and I believe that it is the duty of the public to not buy his records or watch his movies. We should not be celebrating anyone who beats another person particularily a woman. Now to the issue that is really bugging me, Rhianna. Later this week Miss RiRi will be appearing on ABC with an interview with Dianne Saywer. This is the first interview that Rhianna has given since the assault in Feburary 2009. I'm not buying her act of the victim now being strong enough to be the face and voice of abused peoples. See what the general public is missing is that this little princess has an album coming out later this month and the first and second singles are not getting the adds on radio or have a solid amount of digital downloads as she should to have a "comeback." This interview is not sincere in my mind and is just a tool to promote her album. I hope the public just thinks about this before buying her album because "gee that poor girl." She is exploiting her own pain to sell records.

Film Review: This Is It

this_is_it_movie_poster_michael_jackson

Thursday night I went to the showing of This Is It. The documentary is comprised of rehearsal footage of Michael Jackson's concert This Is It. I went in to the experience thinking the film would be heartbreaking and difficult to watch. However, the film was surprisingly upbeat. The film gave you an insight into not only Michael Jackson the performer, but Michael Jackson the human being. Yes he may have been a little socially awkward, but most performers are. The film really showed Jackson's dedicated to his craft and his fans. He was charming, funny and most importantly extraordinarily talented. I recommend the film to anyone who does not understand just how talented the man was and why he will forever be known as the KING of POP.

Halloween 2009

Halloween 2009 will most likely be my Halloween in Santa Barbara. Once again it was a crazy weekend with an estimated 35,000 out of towners plus 15,000 Santa Barbara students bringing the total to 50,000 people on one street. Thursday night was college night downtown and everyone dressed up for the festivities. I was Clark Kent that evening and my friend Mike was a doctor. Downtown was a lot of fun, but the rest of the weekend was just as crazy.

Friday nights I was a doctor and spent most of the night going to different friends houses to say hello. I did walk down DP, but it seemed like half the amount of people compared to last year.

However, Halloween night did not disappoint. The streets were crowded with all kinds of masked, dresses and not dressed partiers. The following picture is from a friends balcony over looking DP.

Saturday night I dressed up as a Lego block that was homemade. I would like to say it was the best costume of the night in IV. I am not just saying that because I constructed it myself, but more people yelled "Lego" than anyone else I saw. In fact, many people asked to take pictures with me. It was my 15 minutes of fame for the evening. Overall, Halloween proved to another AMAZING year and my favorite holiday.

Note: In first picture the other gentleman is my current roommate Matt Russell who was a lamp (my idea). Also, in the last picture is my long time friend Tu Tran who was Minnie Mouse.

OCHEM

This past week has been INSANE! It started off last Thursday when I had a psych 7 midterm. Then Friday and Saturday I worked 21 hours. Then I studied ALL week for my OCHEM midterm today (Friday). Best part, it continues tomorrow when I start to study for an early final. I'm so sick of the library! The picture above is from the craziness of the table on the 2nd floor of the Library. I believe I have been to the library 11 of the past 14 days. Wooohooo!

Music of the Moment

As I continue to decided what kind of blog this is going to be...(i.e. music/photography/personal) I am going to just post everything. I really am feeling this new song by Cobra Starship ft. Leighton Meester. The song is called "Good Girls Go Bad" and its been stuck in my head all night while I have been trying to study. Go listen to it! Its the next half size hit.

Update 2

The fire is finally being contained and the smoke is getting better. Here are two pictures I took last night on the beach of the moon. I do not have my tripod with me and I am using a time exposure, which is what caused the moon to look like the sun. The second picture is a mistake picture but it turned out pretty cool.
